Restorative dentistry is the area of care devoted to fixing damaged teeth and filling in for missing ones — bringing both function and looks back to a healthy starting point. It accounts for the bulk of what patients actually spend on their teeth, and getting a handle on the choices lets you make informed calls instead of simply going along with the first suggestion.
The Restorative Dentistry Spectrum — From Simple to Complex

Composite resin clears out the decayed portion of the tooth and fills the space with tooth-matched material. It's the most basic and frequent restorative treatment there is. Cost: $150–$350, done in one visit.

Lab-made restorations for teeth beyond what a filling can handle but not yet needing a full crown. They're milled from porcelain or gold and save more of the original tooth than a crown would. Cost: $650–$1,200.
A cap that wraps the whole visible tooth. Called for when a tooth is cracked, broken, deeply decayed, or has had root canal therapy. Porcelain crowns are durable, natural in appearance, and good for 10–20 years. Cost: $1,000–$1,800.
Clears the infected nerve tissue out from within the tooth so the tooth itself can be kept. Done with today's techniques, it's practically painless and is nearly always topped off with a crown. Cost: $700–$1,500, and it rescues the natural tooth.
The benchmark for replacing teeth. A titanium post bonds to the jaw and carries a custom crown on top. It keeps bone healthy, works like a real tooth, and can last for life. Cost: $1,800–$3,500 per tooth.
Pulls together several restorative treatments across the whole mouth — often crowns, implants, root canals, and bite correction. Meant for patients dealing with heavy wear, multiple missing teeth, or long-overlooked dental issues. Dr. C maps out a phased plan with transparent pricing at the consultation.
Dr. C's Restorative Philosophy
I work from a single guiding rule in restorative care: do the least amount of intervention that still delivers the best result down the road. If a tooth needs only a filling, it won't get a crown. If a root canal can rescue a tooth, I won't pull it. Every recommendation I make is the same one I'd give a member of my own family facing the same budget and the same circumstances.
Every restorative plan at Merry Dental Hub is put in writing before we begin — listing each option, every cost, and what waiting could mean. Nothing comes as a surprise.
